HOW DOES IT WORK?

Designed for use in commercial or industrial settings, the TWS model HX Tankless electric water heater is an extremely dependable and easily maintained heating appliance. The heater is compact, extremely efficient, takes up minimal space, and reduces operating costs. With a flow rate of 75 litres per minute at 16 degrees Celsius, it is ideal for all of your emergency shower applications—even the most demanding and crucial ones.

Self-modulating technology is based on several factors:
1. We activate our system via a flow sensor at a 0.5 LPM flow rate.
2. We read the inlet water temperature.
3. The digital Setting allows for a constant and steady output temperature and power draw, eliminating peaks and surges at start-up, thereby eliminating fluctuation and flickering lights.
4. Instant power adjustment based on flow rate, inlet temperature, and desired outlet temperature setting. This self-modulating technology makes our units more energy efficient.
5. Smart Technology Digital Controller and Display: JUST SET IT AND FORGET IT-Improved heater technology automatically increases or decreases energy consumption based on the inlet water temperature and flow rate of water.

The HX Emergency Shower water heaters are a marvel of technology and engineering, overflowing with technology yet packaged in an intelligent yet simple design, and they heat the water entirely on demand and only when it is needed.  A sophisticated flow sensor and PCB board detect that hot water is being demanded and turn the unit on.   Instantly, a series of sensors gather information about the flow rate of the water and the incoming water temperature. This information is sent to a microprocessor, which calculates the amount of power needed to heat the water to the set temperature. The water flows through the heat exchanger and exits the unit at the desired temperature. The start-up process takes a couple of seconds.

What makes these units UNIQUE in this marketplace is their EXCLUSIVE, SELF-MODULATING TECHNOLOGY, which saves energy up to 60% and is 99.8% Energy efficient. Pay as you go; if not used, the unit will remain in standby mode by using only 5 volts to energise the control panel.

Full Heater Modulation provides full modulation of each heating element, ensuring that a precise amount of heat is added to improve the heating demand generated by the triac during the switching process.

Full Resource Staging:
The control scheme ensures that usage is equalized across the heating circuits. To achieve this, once the controller has calculated the precise amount of KW`s required, all circuits are energized in a staggered fashion, such that each circuit is proportionally and independently energized and then staggered between circuits. This Full Resource Staging Scheme reduces EMI output, Increases component longevity, and provides highly accurate and consistent hot water temperatures.

TEMPERATURE CONTROLLER

The TWS HX/TX on-demand water heater comes equipped with a digital temperature controller. This temperature controller processes all flow and temperature data and calculates power input to meet demand.

FULL HEATER MODULATION

Each heating element is switched on/off using a fast-acting solid-state TRIAC with zero-crossing over-firing control. This switching action provides full modulation of each heating element, regulating heat input to meet demand. To improve operating efficiency and component longevity, each TRIAC is mounted to a heat sink located on the incoming supply piping so that heat generated by the TRIAC during the switching process is dissipated into the water.

PROPER POWER INTEGRITY

All Tankless water heaters, including all 3-phase models, are engineered to operate as a balanced load and operate at 0.999 Power Factor. All TWS 3-phase models are designed for 3-wire (3 live, 1 ground) and 4-wire power systems and draw equal current across all conductors to maintain the power integrity of the user’s electrical system. TWS does not recommend the use of heaters that operate as an unbalanced load. All load switching in TWS tankless models is performed as zero crossover, eliminating phase angle firing interference and associated EMI issues.

FULL RESOURCE STAGING

The TWS Tankless control system ensures that usage is equalized across all heating circuits. To achieve this, once the controller has calculated the kW required, all circuits are energized proportionally and independently, and then time-staggered between circuits. This full resource staging reduces EMI output, increases component longevity, and provides highly accurate and consistent hot water temperatures. For three-phase models, all circuits are fully modulated and synchronized to operate as a balanced load.

BACnet MODULE

The TWS BACnet interface unit implements the BACnet MS/TP protocol. The device comes from the factory ready to be operated. The unit can be reconfigured easily with a USB cable and the BACnet Network Utility program located on the TWS web page. The BACnet includes features such as set temperature, power limiting, power setting, temperature in and out, flow rate, flowmeter error, and leak detection. Note that Internet Protocol is not supported.
